Job description

Position: Kids Ministry Pastor
Reports To: Executive Pastor
Full Time Salaried Position
Objective: The Kids Ministry Pastor will lead the overall vision, strategy, and execution of Kids Ministry at Community of Faith for children from birth through 5th grade and their families. This person should be a positive, enthusiastic leader who is passionate about helping children and families grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ while creating engaging, safe, and spiritually meaningful ministry environments.
Primary Responsibilities
Leadership, Staff Development & Volunteer Development
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and develop volunteers across all Kids Ministry environments.
  • Ensure all classrooms and ministry areas are staffed with trained volunteers that meet or exceed minimum standards for each environment.
  • Ensure volunteers are properly trained in child safety, classroom management, and family interaction protocols.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and supervisory oversight to all Kids Ministry staff members.
  • Help develop staff members both personally and professionally to ensure a healthy and effective ministry culture.
  • Create systems and culture that encourage volunteer appreciation, development, and retention.

Ministry Programming & Family Engagement
  • Create engaging, exciting, biblically sound, and purpose-filled experiences for COF Kids during weekend services and special events.
  • Develop and execute age-appropriate curriculum and ministry programming aligned with developmental stages.
  • Equip parents to be the primary spiritual leaders of their children through communication, training, and practical resources.
  • Execute a consistent family communication strategy that helps align and support families in the discipleship process.
  • Work closely with Student Ministry leadership to ensure smooth transition and assimilation of graduating 5th grade students into the next stage of ministry.

Volunteer Recruitment
  • In collaboration with other COF ministries and leadership, develop and execute ongoing volunteer recruitment strategies to support Kids Ministry growth and staffing needs.

Guest Care & Follow-Up
  • Develop systems to effectively connect with and follow up with first-time families.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-up and care communication for children and families who have been absent.

Administrative Oversight
  • Manage preschool and elementary ministry budgets responsibly and effectively.
  • Maintain organized records, systems, and ministry processes.
  • Assist with departmental initiatives, church-wide events, and special projects as needed.

Qualifications
  • Passion for children and helping people connect to ministry and community.
  • Demonstrates a growing and authentic personal faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead leaders, build teams, and cast vision effectively.
  • Experience recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers.
  • Strong administrative and project management abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with wisdom and professionalism.
  • Works well in collaborative team environments while also being able to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and relational skills.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of five years of Kids Ministry or related ministry experience.

Schedule & Expectations
  • Typical work schedule is Monday-Thursday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sundays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
  • Participation in all hands-on deck (AHOD) events is expected.
