Position Summary

Second Family Nursing Services is seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide essential care to children with medically complex needs. In this hands-on role, you will work closely with individuals, families and healthcare teams to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care in a home or community-based setting. From managing medical care to offering emotional support during appointments and outings, youll play a vital part in each childs day-to-day well-being.

Our rate is based on Skill Competence Review Check; This Skill Competence check will determine your Level of practice which determines the PDN case/assignment.


Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to children with technologically dependent medical needs
  • Care for individual's in home and community settings
  • Monitor and document changes in patient symptoms, behavior, and overall condition
  • Collaborate with the individuals care team including physicians, caregivers, and family members
  • Accompany clients to medical appointments, emergency visits, and community outings as needed
  • Offer emotional support, education, and guidance to patients and their families
  • Participate in training, skill evaluations, and ongoing professional development


Required Qualifications

  • Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification in the state of Maryland
  • Minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience, preferably with technologically dependent populations
  • Completion of a Skill Competency Review, which determines your level of practice and case assignments
  • Proficient in use of medical devices and monitoring tools including pulse oximeters, oxygen concentrators, and IV administration equipment
  • Familiarity with medical documentation systems and digital tools for charting and communication
  • Strong ability to build rapport with clients, families, and medical professionals
  • Solid critical thinking, clinical judgment, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
  • Must be able to adapt and perform well in a fast-paced and emotionally sensitive environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using electronic health records (EHRs) or mobile charting apps
  • Comfort with home-based or community healthcare environments
  • Flexibility in scheduling and openness to work varied shifts or travel with clients as needed
