Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a MECM Engineer to support a high-visibility DOD enterprise modernization effort supporting the USDON. This MECM Engineer will focus on improving the reliability, automation, & performance of enterprise endpoint management infrastructure while supporting large-scale Windows environments across a globally distributed network. This role is remote, but requires ability to report onsite at the Norfolk, VA location on short notice.

Responsibilities of the MECM Engineer include:
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-scale Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager infrastructure supporting Windows endpoint management
  • Automate endpoint management processes, software deployments, operating system deployments, patching, and configuration management using PowerShell, Python, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools
  • Monitor system health and performance utilizing Splunk and other observability platforms to proactively identify and remediate reliability issues
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automated CI/CD workflows supporting infrastructure deployment, testing, and operational improvements
  • Build and execute automated performance, stress, and failure testing to validate system reliability and scalability
  • Troubleshoot complex MECM client and server issues while optimizing enterprise endpoint performance and availability
  • Integrate MECM with cloud-based technologies including Microsoft Intune, Azure AD, and Windows Update for Business
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, SREs, and operations teams to improve automation, monitoring, and overall platform reliability
  • Support Agile and DevSecOps initiatives by implementing automation, configuration management, and continuous improvement across enterprise infrastructure
  • Maintain compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements including RMF, DISA STIGs, and enterprise security standards
Qualifications for the MECM Engineer include:
  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) environments.
  • Strong experience managing Windows endpoint infrastructure, operating system deployments, software distribution, patch management, and compliance baselines.
  • Hands-on experience automating administrative tasks using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
  • Experience integrating MECM with Microsoft Intune, Azure AD, and modern endpoint management technologies.
  • Knowledge of enterprise monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk.
  • Experience with DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code technologies including Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, GitLab, or similar automation platforms.
  • Understanding of networking concepts supporting enterprise endpoint management, including Distribution Points, PXE services, and boundary groups.
  • Experience working within Agile, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or DevSecOps environments is highly preferred
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • IAT Level II certification
Compensation for the MECM Engineer:
  • $95,000-100,000 based on experience

Location:

Remote (CONUS) with the ability to travel on short notice to an NMCI site as needed. Preferred locations include Norfolk, VA; San Diego, CA; Pearl Harbor, HI; and Bremerton, WA.
