Job description

Road Sweeper Operator

Location: Wyoming

Department: Outdoor Services

Compensation, Schedule & Benefits

  • Pay: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour, depending on experience

  • Schedule: Monday–Saturday 2-7 PM

  • Paid Time Off (PTO): Begin accruing PTO on your first day of employment and become eligible to use accrued PTO after 90 days.

  • 401(k): Eligible after one year of employment, including a 4% company match.

Position Summary

The Road Sweeper Operator is responsible for operating regenerative air and mechanical broom sweepers to maintain clean, safe, and compliant roadways on construction projects, industrial facilities, oil and gas locations, mining operations, and commercial job sites. This position plays a critical role in dust control, site housekeeping, stormwater compliance, and maintaining safe access routes for workers, contractors, and the public.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate street sweepers on construction haul roads, access roads, parking areas, and industrial sites.
  • Remove dirt, mud, gravel, rock, millings, and construction debris from paved and unpaved surfaces.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and complete pre-trip and post-trip reports.
  • Monitor broom wear, water systems, vacuum systems, and hopper capacities.
  • Load, transport, and properly dispose of collected material.
  • Maintain compliance with project environmental and stormwater requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and site personnel regarding sweeping schedules and site conditions.
  • Assist with dust control operations as needed.
  • Identify roadway hazards and unsafe conditions and report them immediately.
  • Maintain accurate service logs, equipment maintenance records, and production reports.
  • Follow all company, OSHA, DOT, and site-specific safety regulations.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively on all job sites.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Minimum one year of experience operating heavy equipment, sweepers, dump trucks, or construction equipment preferred.(Will train)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and varying shifts when project schedules require. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience hauling large equipment and trailers
  • Skid Steer operators preferred
  • Preference given to CLD drivers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Safe operation of regenerative air and mechanical broom sweepers.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance skills.
  • Understanding of construction site safety practices and traffic control procedures.
  • Ability to read maps, work orders, and project instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently climb in and out of equipment.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work outdoors in dust, wind, heat, cold, and changing weather conditions.
  • Ability to sit and operate equipment for extended periods.

Preferred Experience

  • Construction roadway sweeping.
  • Oilfield, mining, or industrial site maintenance.
  • DOT compliance knowledge.
  • Experience operating dump trucks, loaders, skid steers, water trucks, or similar heavy equipment.
