Description:
We are seeking a Registered Nurse with PCU experience.
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of prior PCU RN experience.
First-time travelers must have 2 years of permanent staff acute care RN experience and be separated for 1 year if previously a permanent staff.
The patient population includes individuals recovering from cardiac procedures such as CABG and PCI interventions.
Medical stepdown patients may include those with respiratory failure, stroke, DKA, sepsis, and those requiring frequent monitoring or intervention.
A home unit will be assigned during orientation, and travelers should be familiar with cardiac stepdown patients.
Patient ratios on the unit will range from 1:3 to 1:4.
Required skills include titrating cardiac drips, insulin drips, and vasopressors.
Additional skills in caring for chest tubes, central lines, and wound care are necessary.
Experience with management and pulling venous sheaths and managing temporary pacemakers is preferred.
Support on the unit includes certified nursing assistants during day and night shifts.
A resource nurse, charge nurse, and hospitalist will be available to assist.
Charting will be completed using an electronic medical record system.
Weekend rotation requires working every other weekend.
The schedule will consist of 4 days one week and 3 days the next week.
Holiday expectations include working 2 out of 3 major holidays.
Scrub color will be pewter, and t-shirt colors must be gray, white, or black.
Badges must be worn at all times in a visible manner.
