Position Summary: JMT's Trenton, NJ Underwater Inspection team is seeking an Engineer Diver to be responsible for completing dives for underwater inspections.
Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.
Compensation for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. We notice that we receive a wide variety of applicants and recognize that the person selected may be less experienced or more experienced. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Check diving equipment to ensure it is functioning properly prior to dives
  • Use diving equipment to complete underwater dives
  • Review and interpret plans and design drawings
  • Complete underwater inspections for construction, bridge, and/or marine structures to ensure compliance to plans and codes
  • Record all inspection data and assists in the completion of inspection reports
  • Field work required, which could be performed during nights and weekends
  • Report any medical problems or symptoms experienced during or after the dive
  • Report any equipment issues, other potential hazards, near misses or accidents
  • Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety
  • Team-oriented individual committed to achieving group goals

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Perform other related engineering duties

Required Skills
  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
  • Valid Driver's License Required

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university.
  • Dive Diploma from an ADCI accredited diving educational institution
  • Current ADCI Card
  • Must possess a current ADCI diving physical
  • Ability to wear a commercial diving hat and all necessary equipment 25-50lbs, for approximately 6hrs daily
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions; rain, sleet, storm, snow, heat, etc.
  • Ability to travel for remote or distant projects as needed for several weeks at a time
  • Ability to lift 100lbs repetitively
  • Oxygen Provider/DANO2 certification
  • First/Aid CPR certification

Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 100 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
