Quality InspectorPosition Summary

The Quality Inspector is responsible for working within the company's quality management system to ensure parts and products comply with customer specifications, engineering drawings, military specifications (MIL-SPEC), and internal quality requirements. This position performs first article, in-process, and final inspections while supporting production and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key ResponsibilitiesInspection
  • Verify accuracy of part requirements by reviewing customer blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable MIL-SPEC requirements.
  • Perform First Piece Inspections prior to production runs. Work with Engineering and Production personnel to communicate and resolve any nonconformances before production begins.
  • Perform in-process inspections throughout the workday to verify product conformity.
  • Perform final inspections prior to shipment to ensure compliance with customer and company quality requirements.
  • Operate or assist with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspections and interpret CMM inspection reports, as required.
  • Use calibrated measuring and inspection equipment, including micrometers, depth micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gages, and other precision measuring instruments.
Reporting and Documentation
  • Prepare First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), Certificates of Conformance (CoCs), inspection reports, and other quality documentation as required.
  • Complete inspection paperwork accurately and maintain electronic inspection records by scanning and uploading documentation to the company network.
  • Document inspection results in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
Production Support
  • Support production by working closely with operators and supervisors to address quality concerns.
  • Identify training opportunities and recommend improvements to inspection methods, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure all inspection equipment and gages remain within calibration requirements and notify the supervisor when calibration or repairs are needed.
Nonconforming Material and Corrective Actions
  • Assist with the identification, segregation, and disposition of nonconforming material following company procedures.
  • Support investigations into internal and customer quality issues by assisting with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Help ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and military quality requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school or associate degree in Manufacturing, Quality, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of manufacturing or quality inspection experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T symbols, customer specifications, and military specifications (MIL-SPEC) preferred.
  • Experience operating or working with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) or willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements and quality documentation is preferred.
  • Competent in the use of precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers, indicators, height gages, and other inspection tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, engineers, and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
