A Weekend Remote Lactation Consultant is a certified professional who provides breastfeeding support and guidance to parents, working specifically during weekends and offering services remotely via phone, video calls, or online messaging. They assist with issues such as latching difficulties, milk supply concerns, and general breastfeeding education. This role allows parents to access expert help outside of typical business hours, offering flexibility and convenience, especially for those with newborns. Remote consultants can work independently or as part of healthcare organizations, ensuring families receive timely support without needing in-person visits.

Working as a Weekend Remote Lactation Consultant offers the flexibility of supporting families from home, but it also presents unique challenges such as navigating varied schedules, managing urgent concerns outside typical business hours, and building rapport virtually. You’ll frequently collaborate with pediatricians, nurses, and other healthcare providers through telehealth platforms to ensure comprehensive care. Despite these challenges, the role is highly rewarding, as you play a direct part in helping new parents achieve their feeding goals and build confidence, often during their most critical moments of need.

  • As the dietitian team grows, help support and guide other Registered Dietitians and Lactation Consultants within Delfina Medical Group.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Active International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
  • Licensed to practice as a dietitian in at least three of the following states: Maryland, Nevada, Illinois, Texas. Willing to obtain additional state licenses.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish. This is required.

  • CDCES (Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist) certification, or the clinical experience to be CDCES-eligible (Preferred)
  • One or more years of experience practicing as an IBCLC in the prenatal and postpartum setting.
  • Previous experience providing virtual patient care.
