The choice depends on whether you prefer short-term proofreading or broader editing responsibilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Proofreader, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Proofreader, you need excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills, often supported by a degree in English, journalism, or a related field. Familiarity with style guides (such as AP or Chicago Manual of Style) and proficiency in editing software like Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat are typically required. Attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work independently are crucial soft skills for this role. These skills ensure that written materials are error-free and meet quality standards, even within tight weekend deadlines.

What are some common challenges faced by Weekend Proofreaders and how can they be managed?

Weekend Proofreaders often handle tight deadlines and last-minute projects, as many companies rely on weekend shifts to finalize content before the new workweek. Managing multiple assignments and prioritizing urgent tasks can be challenging, especially when working independently or with limited supervision. Effective communication with editors and writers is essential to clarify expectations and resolve ambiguities quickly. Staying organized and using digital proofreading tools can help ensure accuracy and efficiency, making the workload more manageable.

What does a Weekend Proofreader do?

A Weekend Proofreader is responsible for reviewing written content for errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting, typically during weekends. Their main goal is to ensure that documents, articles, or publications are accurate and polished before being published or submitted. Weekend Proofreaders may work for newspapers, magazines, websites, or other organizations that require fast turnaround times over the weekend. Attention to detail and strong language skills are essential for this role.

WHAT MAKE US - US?
Outside of our obviously mouthful of a name - it's the mouthful of flavors we pack into every bite. With each bite a moment, a memory, an escape - well, at least for the time it takes to finish - and with our portions that can be a while. And never a crumb left behind, because good knows good.
Here, we find comfort in knowing our food brings you comfort - from the moment you walk in, to the moment you taste our fresh-from-scratch baked bread. And since everything is made-to-order - from sandwiches to pizza - it makes sense that we're more deliberate food than fast food. Although, we do promise it's worth the wait.
So, instead of giving you a long history lesson, we'll leave you with this...
It's been 50 years since that day on South Congress where we crafted (and perfected) our very first sandwich. And since that day - we've only added to our list of accomplishments.
But don't just take our word for it - just ask our devoted fans. Like the ones that legit can't quit our jalapeno chips or our homemade hot sauce.
What will be your thing?
