CNC Programmer / CNC Machinist – Hard Milling (Confidential Precision Mold Manufacturer)

Minneapolis–St. Paul, MN | Full-Time | On-Site

We are recruiting on behalf of a premier precision mold manufacturer in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area known for producing highly complex tooling solutions requiring extreme precision and craftsmanship. This organization has built a reputation for technical excellence in advanced mold manufacturing and operates a modern machining environment featuring high-end equipment and cutting-edge programming capabilities.

This opportunity is ideal for a highly skilled CNC Programmer / CNC Machinist with strong hard milling experience, particularly working with Yasda machining centers, producing tight-tolerance mold components for demanding applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform CAD/CAM programming for vertical CNC milling machines, with a strong focus on hard milling operations.

  • Machine precision mold components using Yasda machining centers with Fanuc controls.

  • Set up tooling, fixtures, and workpieces to support complex machining operations.

  • Develop efficient machining strategies and toolpaths for tight-tolerance mold components.

  • Maintain tolerances up to ±.0001” on critical mold features.

  • Inspect finished components using CMM systems and manual inspection equipment.

  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements to ensure precision manufacturing.

  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to improve machining processes.

  • Identify and implement improvements in machining methods, tooling strategies, and programming efficiency.

Preferred Background

  • Technical degree or training in CNC Programming, Machining, or Precision Manufacturing.

  • Strong experience with hard milling of tool steels and hardened mold components.

  • Experience machining on Yasda high-precision machining centers strongly preferred.

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, Cimatron, Pro/E, or similar platforms.

  • Proven experience in mold manufacturing or precision tooling environments.

  • Strong knowledge of 3-axis CNC programming, high-speed machining, and advanced toolpath strategies.

  • Experience with CMM inspection systems and precision metrology equipment.

  • Ability to interpret GD&T blueprints and tight-tolerance manufacturing requirements.

  • Strong analytical, math, and problem-solving skills.
