Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide student instruction from a Christian worldview for undergraduate courses in theatre. Advise students on academic matters, and perform service duties as needed within the department, division, or academic school.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teach assigned course (including class preparation, grading, and other related teaching activities).
  • Support activities related to the University, academic school, division, and department.
  • Maintain regular posted office hours to be available to students.
  • Affirm the religious beliefs of BJU to students and student affiliates.
  • Some evening/weekend production work expected

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Must have practical theatre experience in directing and one or more of the following fields: acting, playwriting, design, stage movement/combat, or stage management.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate effective classroom and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrate organizational abilities in teaching and classroom management
  • Must value the collaborative nature of the theatre experience
  • Possess and communicate a Biblical worldview and integrate biblical principles into subject matter
  • Professional in appearance and presentation
  • Exemplify a biblical role model for students and colleagues
  • Master's degree in teaching field required
  • Terminal degree preferred
  • Teaching experience preferred
