Automation Technical Engineer

Position Summary

The Automation Technical Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automation equipment and automated systems used in electronics manufacturing and testing. This position ensures maximum uptime, reliability, and performance of machinery to meet production and quality objectives. The Automation Technical Engineer collaborates closely with manufacturing engineers, operators, and quality teams to support continuous improvement and safe, efficient operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Automation Equipment Maintenance & Repair

ΜΆ Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment, conveyors and robotic systems.

ΜΆ Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system failures.

ΜΆ Maintain detailed maintenance logs, service records, and calibration documentation.

ΜΆ Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.

Installation & Setup

ΜΆ Handle equipment installation, relocation, and commissioning for new production lines.

ΜΆ Hands on integration of new automation equipment, vision inspection, and related systems.

ΜΆ Calibrate equipment and ensure proper functionality before handoff to production.

Process Support

ΜΆ Collaborate with automation engineering engineers to improve equipment performance and reliability.

ΜΆ Support production line changes, tooling adjustments, and process optimizations.

ΜΆ Implement maintenance best practices to minimize unplanned downtime.

ΜΆ Perform RCCA with PDCA process including error preventing actions.

Safety & Compliance

ΜΆ Follow all OSHA, EHS, and company safety policies and procedures.

ΜΆ Ensure all tools, parts, and equipment are handled and stored properly.

ΜΆ Participate in equipment safety audits and corrective action implementation.

Qualifications

ΜΆ Education: Associate Degree in Automation, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor's degree preferred)

ΜΆ Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in automation equipment maintenance, preferably in electronics manufacturing, assembly, or automated production environments.

ΜΆ Technical Skills:

Μ΄ Proficient in troubleshooting PLCs, sensors, motors, conveyors, and pneumatic systems.

Μ΄ Familiarity with robotics, vision systems, and automated equipment.

Μ΄ Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical CAD drawings.

Μ΄ Experience with automation machine design in 3D/2D tools, SolidWorks or Creo and AutoCAD.

ΜΆ Software Knowledge: CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), Microsoft Office.
