Job description

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing blow molding equipment and supporting systems to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous production. This role focuses on preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of injection and blow molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and facility systems.

Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment & Process Support
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain blow molding and injection machines, including:- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems

    • Extruders, screws, barrels, and die heads
    • Clamp systems, molds, and tooling
  • Maintain and repair auxiliary equipment, including:- Material handling systems (conveyors, loaders, dryers)

    • Chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, and vacuum pumps
    • Trimmers, leak testers, and downstream automation
  • Support mold changeovers, startups, and line changeovers as needed

  • Assist with process optimization to reduce downtime and scrap

Electrical & Controls
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled systems, HMIs, VFDs, and basic robotics
  • Diagnose electrical issues involving motors, sensors, relays, and control panels
  • Perform wiring, panel work, and instrumentation repairs in compliance with plant standards
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
  • Execute preventive maintenance (PM) tasks per schedules
  • Document completed work, parts usage, and equipment conditions in CMMS
  • Identify and recommend reliability improvements and recurring issue solutions
  • Assist in developing and updating PM procedures for blow molding equipment
Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Follow all OSHA, LOTO, and plant safety procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Support quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts (5S, Kaizen, TPM)
  • Participate in audits and inspections related to equipment and facility maintenance
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred
  • 3+ years of maintenance experience in a plastic blow molding or similar manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills (hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems)
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems (480V, motors, controls)
  • Experience working with PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent preferred)
  • Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and P&IDs
  • Proficient with basic hand and power tools
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on-call as required
