Summary:

The Plant Manager will be responsible for all start-up activities, including but not limited to, hiring of warehouse personnel, facilities readiness, and a seamless transition for our customers.  In steady-state operations, the Plant Manager will have full business leadership responsibility for EHS and Site Compliance, Material Handling Integrity, Functional Cost, and Customer On-Time Delivery.  In addition to site management, the Plant Manager will be responsible for working with logistics to optimize service and delivery from the DC to our customers, both internally and externally.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create a strong culture of one-team focused on understanding and balancing employee, business, and customer needs.
  • Responsible for site EHS compliance and employee safety.
  • Utilize lean and continuous improvement methods to drive improvements in safety, delivery, quality, and cost.
  • Ensure financial controllership related to material transactions, inventory management, and functional expenses.
  • Drive and sustain a culture of accountability, compliance, and operational excellence with both hourly and exempt workforce.
  • Ensure assigned employees are aware / comply with all Wabtec, government, customer and applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Perform necessary administrative activities associated with effective management of shop operations, including necessary interface activities with other functions and organizations required to accomplish all objectives.
  • Develop necessary capacity and business contingency plans to ensure continued ability to delivery to customers when demand changes or facility problems arise.
  • Provide ongoing leadership, counseling, and support for plant team, guiding them in current positions and assisting with career development and training.
  • Assure commitment in own and other's actions to the pursuit of highest possible quality of services, internal and delivered products to customers.
  • Work with a variety of cross-functional leaders to achieve business level targets for the Global Freight Services Business segment.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in Materials Management
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in Operations Mgmt. or Site Leadership

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Prior operational / distribution center leadership experience preferred
  • Depth of knowledge in EHS, shop operations, customer services operations, quality, materials, sourcing, and material logistics in an operations environment
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize lean, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Ability to adapt and flex in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability, improve culture, and influence
  • Strong track record of coaching & team engagement skills
  • Strong understanding of operations and business financials including shop functionals, and inventory management
  • Proficient in Oracle ERP
  • Proficient in data analytics, systems navigation, and information management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Compensation/Annual Salary for this role will vary, and depends on experience, but is expected to fall between $105,000 and $125,000 per year.

The salary rate for this role is currently $104800-149300 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
