Responsibilities:

Draw high-quality blood samples from patients using established venipuncture techniques, capillary collection, and pediatric/geriatric phlebotomy procedures.

Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and documentation procedures are strictly followed.

Verify patient demographics, including signatures and identifiers, to ensure specimen integrity and correct labeling.

Provide compassionate and clear communication to patients, explaining procedures to ease anxiety and foster trust.

Maintain accurate records of blood collection activities, adhering to hospital and laboratory policies.

Follow all safety protocols, infection control practices, and policies to uphold a safe environment for patients and staff.

Assist in maintaining a professional setting by adhering to dress codes, confidentiality standards, and quality control practices.

Flexibly support staffing needs across multiple locations, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

Demonstrate leadership behaviors by showing initiative, attention to detail, and a commitment to process excellence.

Required Skills:

Proven proficiency in venipuncture, capillary, and pediatric phlebotomy, with 1-3 years of relevant experience.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster positive patient interactions.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, following established procedures and protocols.

Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and error-free work.

Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if applicable.

Proficiency in keyboard and data entry for specimen documentation.

Familiarity with laboratory information systems or similar electronic health record platforms.

Nice to Have Skills:

Medical assistant or paramedic training, with applicable certifications.

Certified Phlebotomist credentials (preferred but not mandatory).

Experience working in a healthcare setting outside of a dedicated lab, such as a patient service center or medical office.

Knowledge of safety and infection control standards specific to clinical environments.

Preferred Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Medical training in phlebotomy, medical assisting, or paramedicine strongly preferred.

1-3 years of hands-on phlebotomy experience, including proficiency with pediatric and geriatric collections.

Experience in a patient service center or outpatient clinical environment is highly valued.

Data entry skills and familiarity with healthcare software systems.

Other Requirements:

Flexibility to work shifts between 4 to 8 hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call hours.

Ability to travel between multiple clinical locations with short notice.

Certification in phlebotomy preferred; specific licensing required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform venipuncture, and handle laboratory specimens.
