About the job 

The Platform Data Interfaces team in the Platform Services division is looking for a Senior Software Developer.  This team is responsible for building and maintaining the access layer for the application storage solutions in the SAS Viya Platform using Golang and other technologies as required. As a member of this team, you will help to maintain and improve the use of these technologies in our platform, adhere to SLAs and security compliance needs, and develop new solutions for data storage and access within the system. 

As a Senior Software Developer, we are looking for someone who: 

  • Designs and develops high quality, testable and scalable software solutions within established timelines while adhering to R&D best practices and processes.

  • Activelyinvolves other project stakeholders (e.g. managers, developers, user interface and visual designers, product managers) to ensure implementation satisfies functional requirements and is consistent with established R&D standards.

  • Participates in project scoping and scheduling; tracks progress of individual tasks and alerts stakeholders of issues blocking or preventing completion of task.

  • Ensures quality through functional, unit and performance testing; works closely with testing by providing thorough reviews of the test plan and communicates when updates to the plan should be made to cover code changes related to enhancements, redesigns and/or bug fixes.

  • Maintains accountability for the entire life cycle of the code including support for both internal and external consumers.

  • In collaboration with technical writers, authors appropriate level of design and technical documentation that satisfies both internal and external consumers.

  • Participates in open-source projects on behalf of SAS.

  • Ensures all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals.

Required qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field

  • 8+ years of experience as a developer on large software projects

  • Experience writing Golang and/or Java

  • Experience with Relational Databases

  • Experience using GitHub for source management

  • Experience with integration, regression, and unit testing

  • Experience using Agile development practices

  • Experience operating in a CI/CD environment

  • Experience with Liquibase and/or other database schema management and migration tools

  • Familiarity with data-persistence in cloud environments

  • Familiarity with various cloud environments and concepts

  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
