Applications Engineer III

Job Summary:

As an Applications Engineer III, you are providing the technical input defining Array's tracker product offering through the development of the utility solar project. This role will be faced with many interdisciplinary tasks spanning across structural, mechanical and electrical engineering all in support of Array's commercial activities.Timeliness and accuracy of work is essential in this position. The ideal candidate will thrive in growing strong customer relationships and utilizing consultative selling in order to translate customer needs into optimal Array solutions. This position may require occasional evening and weekend hours.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop in-depth technical knowledge of Array's products, product configurations and site application.

  • Analyze and cost optimize projects for competitive positioning of the Array offer.

  • Provide preliminary tracker and foundation designs and coordinate other related design activities required to meet the project needs.

  • Develop expertise in proprietary engineering tools and processes.

  • Determine technical requirements that influence a project design that include wind loading, snow loading, seismic loading and corrosion.

  • Support contract activities to ensure design requirements have been met and Array specifications are defined.

  • Provide timely feedback on questions and RFI's (Requests for Information) related to project or product design.

  • Work with a geographically dispersed sales team to achieve industry-leading technical sales support.

  • Create and deliver technical presentations for customer meetings.

  • Review details of Array's quotes and pricing to confirm alignment with technical offer details.

  • Manage personal workload and daily priorities within Array's work tasking system.

  • Prepare technical contract exhibits.

  • Prepare Bills of Materials for the Array product offering.

  • Prepare preliminary tracker system models as required considering mechanical, structural, or energy production performance.

  • Supply technical documentation for sales activities including responding to proposal packages.

  • Provide timely feedback on questions related to project or product design.

  • Deliver technical presentations related to Array's products and features.

  • Provide customer pre-sales engineering support on-site or at the customer's office as needed.

  • Build strong technical relationships at the customer level.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Aeronautical, or Electrical Engineering; an advanced degree is desired.

  • Minimum of 5 years working in the engineering field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with mechanical or structural systems.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively communicate technical information.

  • Outstanding communication, presentation, interpersonal, and multi-tasking abilities.

  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team across multiple organizations.

  • Ability to thrive within a fast-paced, smaller company environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced engineering degree.

  • Experience in solar, renewables, or power generation equipment.

  • Detail-oriented and deadline-driven with excellent problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience with 2D AutoCAD required; experience with SolidWorks desired.

  • Experience with PV performance modeling, PVSyst preferred.

  • Experience working in Salesforce highly desired.
