Job description

Summary The City of Roseville's Parks & Recreation is a nationally recognized parks and recreation system that maintains 33 parks, 679 acres of parkland and open space, and 67 miles of trails and walkways. The department manages recreation, leisure, sports, community facilities, and natural resources while offering more than 1,000 recreation programs, special events, and activities annually, providing exceptional opportunities and facilities for residents and visitors to experience the best of Roseville. The Gymnasium Facility Supervisor provides site set-up, take-down, and facility supervision of community gymnasiums.

The position will ensure the facility is secure while also ensuring safe participation for all gymnasium users. NOTE: This position will primarily work evenings and weekends for meetings and events and typically works around 19 hours per week from September 2026 to May 2027. The individuals will work at either of these locations Central Park Gymnasium or Brimhall Gymnasium.

Essential Duties Responsibilities The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position. Provides timely access to facility by scheduled user groups.

Responsible for opening facility and securing facility when leaving. Provides gymnasium set-up and take-down which includes volleyball nets, pickleball nets, chairs, tables, scoreboards, etc. Enforces facility policies with regard to appropriate use of facility.

Serves as a liaison between program participants and Roseville Parks and Recreation Department. Provides polite and prompt services to users and is available to meet the needs of the group. Greets participants, spectators, and guests.

Executes emergency procedures as necessary. Completes accident reports immediately and communicates effectively with direct supervisor. Monitors equipment and supplies and notifies direct supervisor of damaged or missing equipment.

Provides light cleaning in gymnasium facility. Handles cash payments for gym use and properly completes receipts and daily cash reports. Utilizes tools and equipment including but not limited to, shovels, vacuums, mops, and brooms.

Continually shows respect for diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and interests. Exhibits sensitivity to the needs of diverse audiences in all duties performed on behalf of the City to support Roseville in building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working environment and community. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience/Education Able to work independently to complete daily activities according to work/facility schedule Excellent customer service and communication skills Physical Demands & Work Environment The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Most work is performed in a community gymnasium environment; however, there is exposure to a multitude of elements including stress, pressure, and inability to control work pace.

Occasionally the job may involve working with and calming individuals who are emotionally charged over an issue. The position requires attendance at evening and weekend meetings and events. Limited lifting and pushing of 35 pounds will occur as required less than 20% of the time.

The Gymnasium Facility Supervisor is responsible for varied technical, complex, and confidential functions, many of which have deadlines and require significant attention to detail. Approximately 70-90% of the time, work is performed at the highest level of detail under the pressure of deadlines. Activities that occur constantly (5-8 hours/shift): sitting, reading, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Activities that occur frequently (2-5 hours/shift): walking. Activities that occur occasionally (up to 2 hours/shift): lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and grasping, feeling and eye/hand/foot coordination.
