The Breakdown
The Manager, Translation Operations is responsible for managing Burton's global translation process, ensuring marketing assets are translated accurately, efficiently, and on schedule to support global production and campaign delivery.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Creative Production & Asset Management, this role owns the translation workstream within the broader production process. Working closely with Creative Production, Regional Marketing and external translation partners, this leader ensures translated copy is delivered on time, production-ready and supports the integrity of the original creative.
While translation accuracy is essential, success in this role also requires understanding how translated copy impacts design, layout, hierarchy and production. This leader proactively identifies challenges and works with Production and Creative teams to resolve them before they affect campaign delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Own Translation Operations
  • Manage the end-to-end translation workflow for global marketing assets
  • Coordinate translation requests received through the Creative Production team
  • Prioritize translation work based on established production schedules and campaign timelines
  • Ensure translated copy is delivered accurately and on schedule to support production

Manage Translation Agency Partners
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for Burton's translation agency
  • Develop clear translation briefs and manage project delivery
  • Monitor agency quality, turnaround times, and service levels
  • Continuously improve translation workflows and agency performance

Align and Execute with Creative Production
  • Review translated copy for production readiness
  • Recognize when translated copy creates production challenges due to length, formatting, hierarchy or layout
  • Collaborate with Production, Creative, Regional teams and translation partners to resolve issues before assets move into final production
  • Escalate translation challenges early to minimize downstream production delays

Drive Translation Excellence
  • Maintain approved terminology and translation standards
  • Coordinate regional language reviews and approvals
  • Ensure consistency across product naming, technical language, and brand terminology
  • Identify opportunities to improve translation quality and efficiency over time

  • Translation work is delivered accurately and on schedule
  • Translation delays do not impact production timelines
  • Translation agency operates as an extension of Burton's production team

What You'll Bring to the Team
  • 5 years in translation/localization management, production coordination, project management, or global marketing operations
  • Experience managing external agency or vendor relationships, ideally translation or creative production vendors
  • Background working with multilingual marketing assets across regions
  • Experience in apparel, outdoor, or consumer brand marketing production is a plus, not a requirement
