Job description

TeamHealth is seeking a part-time critical care physician to join the ICU team at Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, on a weekend basis. This role focuses on providing expert care for critically ill adult patients, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to manage complex cases in the intensive care setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in the ICU, including daily patient assessment, management of life-support technologies, ventilator management, hemodynamic support and critical care procedures
  •  Collaborate with specialists, hospitalists, nursing, respiratory therapy and ancillary services to develop and implement individualized care plans
  •  Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, clinical decision-making, and family communication
  •  Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system
  •  Support quality improvement initiatives, patient safety efforts and institutional protocols within the ICU
  •  Participate in scheduled coverage, including nights or weekend call as defined by the department schedule

Qualifications
  • Board certified/board eligible in internal medicine or family medicine
  • Alabama medical license or eligibility
  • Strong clinical skills with a patient-centered approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
