Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Level 2 Trauma teaching hospital in Georgia, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and night shift availability.

Details
  • Combined Medical, Surgical, Neuro, and Cardiac ICU with 26 beds
  • Patient population includes drug overdose, MI, subarachnoid hemorrhage, MVC, sepsis, ARF, AAA, acute hypoxic respiratory failure, and suicide attempts
  • ICU is equipped with Life Link, CRRT, and intra-aortic balloon pump
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a (1900–0700), 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • On-call may be requested in low-census situations, though this is rare
  • Floating required to all Med/Surg and Critical Care areas, including ED boarders
  • EMR: Epic
  • Uses Alaris pumps, cardiac monitors, BiPap, ventilators, Precision BBG monitor, specialty beds, and Virtual Patient Observer technology
Requirements
  • Active GA or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications required (CPI can be provided by facility if not already held); TNCC preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Experience with arrhythmia monitoring, sedation, paralytics, titratable drips, and CVP monitoring required
  • Experience caring for post-craniotomy patients and TPA administration required
  • CCRN preferred
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
  • Level 2 Trauma designated, 361-bed academic teaching hospital with a residency program, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center
  • Orientation consists of Monday–Friday NEO during week one, followed by 2–3 days of departmental orientation in week two
  • Support staff includes CNAs/nurse techs, respiratory therapists, phlebotomists, educators, safety sitters, virtual patient observers, and security
  • Two nurses are required to place a foley catheter per facility policy
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Free parking available on-site
  • Holiday coverage required for 70% of holidays
  • Local candidates are welcome to apply — no radius rule; the same rate applies to local travelers
  • Former employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated from a permanent position for at least 1 year before being eligible
