Description

The Microsoft 365 Administrator is responsible for administration, security, and optimization of the College's Microsoft cloud environment, including identity management, collaboration services, security platforms, and endpoint management technologies.  This position serves as the subject matter expert for Microsoft cloud technologies and works closely with the IT Operations Manager, Systems Administrator, and institutional stakeholders to ensure secure and effective use of Microsoft services.

The successful candidate will have strong experience with Microsoft 365 administration, identity management, cybersecurity practices, and cloud-based technologies.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Administer Microsoft 365 services including: 
    • Exchange Online 
    • Microsoft Teams 
    • SharePoint Online 
    • OneDrive       
    • Microsoft licensing and service configuration 
  • Monitor system health and recommend improvements. 
  • Support adoption and effective use of Microsoft cloud services. 

Identity and Access Management

  • Administer Microsoft Entra ID. 
  • Manage user identities, groups, roles, and permissions. 
  • Configure and maintain: 
    • Multi-factor authentication 
    • Conditional Access policies 
    • Single sign-on integrations 
    • Identity security controls 
  • Support user lifecycle management processes. 

Microsoft Security Administration

  • Monitor and improve Microsoft security posture. 
  • Manage and review Microsoft Defender security capabilities. 
  • Assist with: 
    • Security recommendations 
    • Threat protection 
    • Compliance initiatives 
    • Security reporting 
  • Support cybersecurity improvement initiatives. 

Endpoint Management

  • Support Microsoft Intune administration. 
  • Develop and maintain endpoint configuration standards. 
  • Assist with device enrollment, compliance policies, and lifecycle management. 

Automation and Process Improvement

  • Develop PowerShell scripts and automation solutions. 
  • Improve administrative efficiency through automation. 
  • Evaluate Microsoft platform capabilities and recommend enhancements. 

Documentation and Support

  • Maintain documentation for Microsoft configurations and procedures. 
  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting. 
  • Collaborate with IT team members on technology initiatives. 

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position with standard office hours; may require occasional evening or weekend work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent professional experience considered. 
  • 3+ years of experience administering Microsoft 365 environments. 
  • Experience with: 
    • Microsoft Entra ID 
    • Exchange Online 
    • Microsoft Defender 
    • Intune       
    • PowerShell       
  • Strong understanding of identity management and cybersecurity principles. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft certifications such as: 
    • Microsoft 365 Certified Administrator 
    • Azure Administrator Associate 
    • Security-related Microsoft certifications 
  • Experience with higher education technology environments. 
  • Experience with SSO/SAML integrations. 
  • Experience with endpoint management and security compliance
