Job Title: Medical Receptionist and Insurance Verification Specialist
Note: The hours we are looking to fill would be full-time, 5:2 block schedule working every other weekend.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our healthcare facility as a Medical Receptionist and Insurance Verification Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for greeting and registering patients, ensuring accurate and efficient check-in processes, and performing insurance verification tasks. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as a strong understanding of medical insurance procedures. This is a vital position within our organization that directly impacts the patient experience and overall operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:

  1. Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive and friendly atmosphere in the reception area.
  2. Accurately register patients by collecting and verifying their personal information, medical history, and insurance details.
  3. Verify insurance coverage and benefits for patients using electronic systems, contacting insurance providers, and interpreting insurance policies and procedures.
  4. Communicate insurance coverage information to patients, including copays, deductibles, and any other relevant financial obligations.
  5. Answer incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate departments or individuals, providing information and assistance as needed.
  6. Schedule patient appointments, procedures, and follow-ups, coordinating with healthcare providers and maintaining the appointment calendar.
  7. Collect payments from patients, process insurance claims, and ensure proper billing and coding procedures are followed.
  8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic health records (EHR) system, including demographic and insurance information.
  9. Provide necessary forms and paperwork to patients, ensuring completion and accuracy.
  10. Collaborate with medical staff, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless patient experience and resolve any issues related to insurance coverage or billing.
  11. Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, procedures, and codes, and communicate relevant updates to the appropriate stakeholders within the organization.
  12. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent. Some college coursework in healthcare administration or related field is preferred.
  2. Proven experience as a medical receptionist or similar role in a healthcare setting.
  3. Strong knowledge of medical insurance verification processes, including insurance plans, coverage, eligibility, and authorizations.
  4. Familiarity with medical terminology, procedures, and coding (ICD-10, CPT) is highly desirable.
