Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Allergy, Immunology & Asthma physician to join the growing Vanderbilt Lung Institute. This faculty position focuses on the care of patients with asthma, immunologic and allergic diseases. This role offers a unique opportunity to practice in a highly collaborative academic environment with access to robust clinical and research infrastructure across Middle Tennessee.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Care
- Provide high-quality outpatient care for patients with asthma and allergic/immunologic conditions
- Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers
- Utilize onsite resources, including full pulmonary function testing (PFTs), methacholine challenges, immune deficiency diagnostics, comprehensive environmental, drug, contact, and food allergy testing, skin biopsy, and challenge and desensitization protocols
- Participate in consult-only inpatient service (no primary admitting)
- Research & Academic Focus
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in asthma, chronic sinus disease, mast cell disorders, immunodeficiency, food allergy, and drug allergy
- Opportunities to grow a comprehensive contact dermatitis clinical program
- Opportunities to collaborate in industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated asthma and allergic disease research
- Contribute to scholarly activity, academic publishing, and presentations
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows
- Participate in Division and Department educational programs
Schedule & Call
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
- Call: Consult-only service approximately 8–12 weeks per year
- Clinical fellow provides first call
- Weekends/Nights: Consult service only
- FTE: 1.0 FTE preferred; consideration down to 0.7 FTE
- Telehealth: Included
Practice Environment
- Locations: Vanderbilt Lung Institute – West End and satellite clinics
- Team: 10 physicians and 4 Advanced Practice Providers across 3 clinical sites
- Integrated Clinical Research Support:
- Clinical research coordinators
- Specimen processing, storage, and shipment
- Industry contract and budget development support
- Regulatory and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) infrastructure embedded within clinic space
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Allergy & Immunology
- Excellent clinical acumen, communication skills, and collaborative approach
