Maintenance Technician

 

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for supporting production processes at the site by safely executing predictive, preventative, and reactive maintenance of production and classification equipment. This position requires the ability to work occasional overtime and participate in the call-out rotation as needed to maintain the site's production capability.

Main Functions

 

  • Participate in interdepartmental meetings, present safety talks as part of a rotation with other maintenance technicians and Interact with Maintenance Planner / Stores Coordinator for the purpose of understanding priorities in scheduling, obtaining parts for scheduled work, and reporting issues found within the plants for future repair work.
  • Participate in a rotating call-out system: once every four weeks (and as needed during personnel shortages) be available in off-hours to come in and repair equipment as needed for continuous production operations.
  • Maintain electronic training and certifications on-site, such as cybersecurity, corporate training, and communications within the department. Perform safety related inspections, and housekeeping of shop and service trucks.
  • Participate in a peer accountable behavioral based safety program - observing interdepartmental and operators from other departments, giving safety feedback as part of that process
  • Welding of related process equipment
  • Mechanical troubleshooting, repair of pumps, piping, replacing drive belts, etc.
  • Preventative Maintenance (greasing, inspections, etc.)
  • Electrical troubleshooting/repair of 480V/575V systems at <40 cal/cm2 rating

Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • The job will require the completion of an Associate degree in Industrial Systems Technology or equivalent field. This can be earned while on the job but will require steady progress towards completion with continuous enrollment every semester until completed.
  • Welding certification in SMAW. Tig and Mig welding experience/certification is a plus.

 

Required Skills/Experience

  • Demonstrated experience with electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation repair.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to balance responsibilities for given priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and provide timely and effective solutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills with clear, concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be able to lift up to sixty (60) pounds, walk, sit, squat, bend, push/pull with arms/leg, reach overhead and stoop.
  • A highly motivated, self-driven individual with a continuous improvement mindset and ability to work within cross-functional self-managed teams.
  • Ability to interact effectively with different levels of personnel inside/outside the organization.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to read/interpret CAD based drawings for repair/installation of electrical/piping equipment.

Work Schedule

 

  • The work schedule is 7:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday-Friday, One week out of every four, this position will share a call out phone for the responsibility of handling any emergency repair that is required during off hours. If the site is operating on a 7-day schedule, the maintenance technician on call will be responsible for the weekend during the week they are scheduled. Being called out during the week does not replace a working shift.
