Hartford Athletic II Analyst / Assistant Coach Intern
Mission

Overview
Hartford Athletic is seeking a motivated Analyst / Assistant Coach Intern to support the Hartford Athletic II coaching staff across match analysis, opposition analysis, training analysis, player development, and on-field coaching. This position is well suited to a current college student, recent graduate, or young coach studying or working within Sport Management, Coaching, Performance Analysis, Exercise Science, or a related field. The intern will work directly with the Hartford Athletic II coaching staff and Academy/Technical leadership, contributing to the club's day-to-day technical program and gaining exposure to Hartford Athletic's player-development pathway.
Please note that this internship requires availability for evening and weekend training sessions and matches throughout the season.
Responsibilities
Match & Performance Analysis
Film Hartford Athletic II matches and training sessions where required
  • Code and analyze matches to identify key team and individual performance trends
  • Produce concise post-match analysis for the coaching staff
  • Identify and organize relevant video clips for team and individual player review
  • Maintain an organized library of match and training footage

Support the tracking of team and individual performance indicators throughout the season
Opposition Analysis
  • Assist with scouting upcoming opponents through available match footage
  • Identify opposition strengths, weaknesses, tendencies, and key players
  • Prepare video clips and concise reports to support match preparation
  • Work with the coaching staff to translate opposition analysis into practical training and game-plan considerations

Individual Player Development
  • Create and maintain individual player video libraries
  • Support coaches with individual player reviews and feedback
  • Identify clips demonstrating positive actions and development opportunities
  • Assist in tracking individual development objectives throughout the season
  • Support the creation of player reports where required

Training Analysis
  • Film training sessions when appropriate
  • Provide video and analytical support around specific training objectives
  • Assist coaches in reviewing whether tactical and technical objectives are transferring from training into matches
  • Help maintain records of training themes and player-development priorities

Assistant Coaching
  • Support the coaching staff with the planning and delivery of Hartford Athletic II training sessions
  • Assist with setting up and organizing training activities
  • Coach individuals and small groups under the direction of the coaching staff
  • Provide appropriate technical and tactical feedback to players
  • Assist with warm-ups, technical practices, unit work, and position-specific activities
  • Support match-day preparation, warm-ups, and coaching responsibilities
  • Contribute ideas during staff discussions and match preparation

First Team & Academy Integration
  • Support communication and information sharing across the Hartford Athletic player pathway where appropriate
  • Assist with monitoring players identified as having potential to progress within the club
  • Help provide video and performance information that supports conversations around player development and progression
  • Gain an understanding of how Hartford Athletic II connects the Academy environment with the professional First Team
  • Take on other duties, special projects, and coaching or analysis tasks as assigned by the coaching staff

Desired Qualifications
  • Strong interest in soccer coaching and/or performance analysis

Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, a recent graduate, or a young coach gaining experience, otherwise must be a volunteer
  • Available throughout the fall and/or spring semester
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends for training sessions and matches
  • Reliable transportation to Hartford Athletic II training and match locations
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and assist with training and equipment setup and breakdown
