Job description

Role Summary

The Lab Assistant is responsible to help housekeeping duties in the IVF laboratory to maintain an efficient workflow and assure high quality IVF laboratory procedures. The laboratory assistants consult and advise other staff groups/members regarding IVF laboratory needs and procedures.

Some day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Daily data entry from IVF and or andrology worksheet into EMR.
  • Preparation of paperwork for next day procedures.
  • Daily IVF laboratory cleaning and regular plus biohazard trash removal.
  • Preparation of disposable material used in lab procedures.
  • Works together with Laboratory Director to coordinate work for an effective use of resources.
  • Works collaboratively with the IVF Laboratory Director and the IVF team to proactively identify evolving "best practices" as well as area of improvement in the Laboratory process and department operations.
  • Organizes scheduling, packaging and shipping of genetic samples to outside laboratories as needed.
  • Organizes scheduling and receiving of media and plasticware for IVF, andrology, endocrinology and satellites laboratories.
  • Organizes inventory of all materials used in the SPRINGs laboratories
  • Tasks all other departments about daily laboratory flow via EMR or Email or chat, as needed.
  • Bachelors in Science in Biological or Chemistry required and with specialization in reproductive Biology preferred.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
Education and Skills
  • A Bachelor's of Science degree
  • 2 + years of experience in fertility or healthcare
  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices
  • Proficiency in MS Office required
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts to patients
  • Flexible availability which may include working some weekends and holiday
Employment Type

This is a full-time (40 hours a week/8 hours per day) non-exempt onsite position.ย 

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $45,000 - $55,000 annually. Salary is based on several factors including job related knowledge and skill set, depth of experience, certifications and/or degrees. ย
