Job description

Job Requirements

In the Referrals Lab at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System- Lab Assistants will rotate between inpatient specimen receiving, outpatient registrations, and MGC/ICC specimen receiving. Lab assistants will work with the Lab Techs in the department to ensure specimens are processed appropriately as needed, load/unload the automation line, investigate automation line errors and issues, investigate specimen issues, assist lab techs with department maintenance including automation line, centrifuges, refrigerators, and freezers as needed, and other job duties as assigned.


Position Summary

A Laboratory Assistant Non-Technical registers patients/specimens by validating and keying correct demographic and billing information and performs compliant order verification. Orders lab procedures in the LIS. Accessions and processes all types of patient specimens in preparation for testing in the various sections of the laboratory. A Laboratory Assistant Non-Technical must follow established laboratory standards, practices, and procedures. Understands and complies with the Behavior Standards and department policies, procedures and regulations.

Experience        

        Intermediate level of computer knowledge and experience
