Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Software Engineer Intern at Garmin's Middlebury, CT location. In this role, you will be responsible for learning and training to develop software for Garmin's aviation products in a team-oriented environment under supervision.
Essential Functions
  • Learn to develop software in Angular, JavaScript, or other selected languages for Garmin aviation products in accordance with Garmin's software development methodology with guidance
  • Learn to test software using debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers
  • Learn to perform software releases and software quality assurance activities
  • Learn to perform maintenance activities for products already in production in addition to new product software design
  • Associates are expected to integrate, use, and provide feedback on products in development when possible as part of their normal job responsibilities

Basic Qualifications
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must possess relevant experience and/or training in languages such as Angular and JavaScript, or other languages relevant to Garmin's business needs
  • Must possess relevant experience and/or training in data structures or object-oriented design methodology relevant to Garmin's business needs

Desired Qualifications
  • Pursuing a master's degree in Geomatics, Aerospace or Software engineering
  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
  • Previous experience working in a team environment
  • Background in aviation or prior interaction with pilots/flight operations
