Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Artist Relations Manager is a store-based role that blends sales leadership, community influence, and brand representation. This individual is a high-performing selling associate who drives product sales while also serving as a visible ambassador for the store in the local music community. The role is responsible for helping bring the Guitar Center brand to life through in-store artist engagement, events, brand activations, and community relationship building.
This person acts as a key connector between the store and the corporate office, partnering closely with Marketing and PR to support local event execution, artist appearances, promotional activations, and community outreach. They help ensure the store is not only a destination for musicians to shop, but also a hub for inspiration, connection, and cultural relevance in the local market.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive personal sales performance across assigned product categories and contribute meaningfully to overall store sales, attachment, margin, and customer experience goals
  • Serve as a highly credible, visible, and relationship-oriented representative of Guitar Center within the local music, artist, and creator community
  • Support and help execute in-store events, clinics, artist appearances, brand activations, and community-facing experiences that increase traffic, engagement, and brand awareness
  • Partner with Store Manager and corporate Marketing team to align local event execution with company campaigns, brand priorities, and promotional calendars
  • Support event logistics at the store level, including setup, presentation standards, product readiness, talent hospitality, and customer flow
  • Act as an on-the-ground liaison with corporate Marketing and PR teams for store-based activations, helping ensure events are executed professionally and consistently with brand expectations
  • Identify local partnership opportunities that can drive store traffic, customer acquisition, and brand relevance
  • Support social and promotional moments connected to store activity in partnership with approved corporate marketing and PR guidelines
  • Represent the store as a compelling brand face during artist events and community engagement opportunities
  • Support store leadership to ensure event activity supports business goals and does not compromise daily selling execution or service standards
  • Help create a store environment that feels energetic, credible, inspiring, and connected to the musician community

Pay Rate: $70,304 - $88,031 depending on background and experience.
This position is eligible to participate in the Guitar Center Company bonus program based on Company performance.

Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in specialty retail, music retail, artist relations, event activation, brand marketing support, or a related customer-facing environment
  • Proven ability to drive sales and deliver strong customer service in a retail setting
  • Strong knowledge of musical instruments, audio equipment, music culture, and/or the broader musician ecosystem
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and establish credibility with artists, customers, and community partners
  • Experience supporting events, promotions, activations, or community outreach preferred
  • Strong verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable serving as a public-facing representative of the store and the Guitar Center brand
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage event details while balancing daily sales responsibilities
  • Ability to partner effectively across store operations and corporate functions
  • Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, to support store events and peak business periods
