To plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Nursing Services Department on the weekend in accordance with current federal, state and local standards governing the facility, and as may be directed by the Director of Nursing, to ensure that the highest practicable level of quality care is maintained.

• Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing and meet all applicable Federal and State licensure requirements.
• Must have previous experience in a hospital, long-term care facility or other healthcare related facility in a position of responsibility.
• Must be knowledgeable in general nursing standards of care and medical practices.
• Must possess the ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies / personnel, and the general public
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
• Excellent nursing assessment, documentation, and written/verbal communication skills.
• Computer literacy and knowledge of electronic documentation.
• Display professionalism both in appearance and in actions.
• Must possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
• Must have patience, tact, enthusiasm, and positive attitude toward the elderly and disabled
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
  
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions and Physical and Sensory Requirements for All Job Functions as outlined below.

Essential Job Functions

A. Administrative Functions

1. Assist Director of Nursing (DON) in organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing the programs and activities of the nursing departments.

2. Assist in developing and implementing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services, such as activity programs.

3. Implement plans of action to correct deficiencies.

4. Complete medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charts, etc.

5. Assist in planning, developing, implementing and maintaining resident discharge procedures and plans.

6. Participate in surveys and inspections by government agencies.

7. Ensure compliance with federal/state and company requirements are met for all incidents/accidents and reportable allegations, including conducting investigations as required.

8. Make reports and recommendations to the Administrator and DON concerning operations of the department.

9. Participate in QA program as directed.

1. Supervise resident's care, conduct compliance rounds throughout the day to assure quality of care and to address problems, as necessary. Make appropriate documentation.

2. Conduct tour and obtain essential information for possible admission.

3. Inform personnel of new admissions, ensure that rooms are ready; greet new admissions and escort to rooms. Ensure that any equipment, medication, treatment and other supplies are available.

4. Ensure completion of admission nursing assessment and careplan.

5. Monitor resident's treatment and medication to ensure residents are receiving proper care.

6. Conduct med pass audits and observations. Review 24-hour report. Monitor residents concerns.

7. Review clinical record to ensure proper documentation and compliance is maintained relating to residents' treatment, medication and conditions.

8. Make rounds with physicians and ensure proper recordkeeping.

9. Coordinate communication with physicians concerning resident care issues.

10. Provide direct nursing care as necessary.

11. Check emergency kits for completeness and documentation errors.

1. Supervise Nursing Assistants, Charge Nurses, LPNs and Med Tech, if applicable.

2. Assist in counseling, evaluating, and terminating nursing services personnel with guidance from Administrator and DON.

3. Ensure schedules and work assignments, including vacation and holiday schedules, are implemented to ensure adequate staffing, including replacing call-ins.

4. Review personnel grievances and ensure that all personnel are

treated consistent with policies and applicable laws.

1. Develop and participate in planning, implementing, conducting and scheduling orientation, training and in-service educational activities for nursing services personnel.

2. Maintain professional competence, as well as current licenses, through participation in continuing education programs, seminars and training programs.

1. Maintain resident confidentiality.

2. Treat residents with kindness, dignity and respect.

3. Know and comply with and ensure that all nursing services personnel know and comply with Resident's' Rights rules and advance directives

4. Investigate promptly and report to the Administrator and maintain written records of all resident complaints and grievances as they relate to nursing services.

1. Serve on, attend and participate in various committees of the facility as appointed by the Administrator and assist in preparing departmental budgets.

2. Adhere to all facility and department policies.

3. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

4. May be required to perform Charge Nurse duties.
