Job description

KBAK/KBFX has an immediate opening for a creative Weekend News Producer! In this role, you will be responsible for producing our weekend evening (Saturday/Sunday) newscasts with additional producing responsibilities for the other 3 days of the week. This position will also work closely with managers, directors, and anchors on the newscast and its content. In this position you will determine the content and flow of newscasts, write stories and develop content for our web site.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Solid news judgment
  • Be a compelling and accurate writer
  • Strong team player with equally strong communication skills
  • Be able to multitask and manage time to put together an exciting and informative newscast
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dead-driven environment
  • The ability to execute news strategies and goals in newscasts
  • Flexibility and on-the-spot problem solving abilities are a must
  • Ability to learn newsroom systems, such as iNews

Experience:

  • Must have at least some previous news producing experience at a commercial TV station, although the right entry-level candidate may be considered
  • A journalism degree is preferred

The base hourly compensation range for this role is $17.50 to $19.50 per hour. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates' relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans,ย flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
