The Role
This role leads the execution of GM's cybersecurity strategy across manufacturing sites, driving risk reduction, control deployment, and network refreshes in close partnership with plant leadership, Manufacturing Engineering, plant IT, and Security Operations. The position is accountable for consistent, standardized implementation of cybersecurity controls that improve visibility and resilience while ensuring initiatives do not negatively impact safety, quality, or production. Reporting into Security Operations, this people-leadership role builds, leads, and develops a team of cybersecurity execution engineers on the manufacturing floor, translating enterprise cybersecurity strategy into repeatable, site-level execution and serving as the on-the-ground technical point of contact for plant cybersecurity priorities.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the execution of cybersecurity control deployments, network refreshes, and risk-reduction initiatives across assigned manufacturing sites.
  • Partner with plant leadership, Manufacturing Engineering, plant IT, and Security Operations to plan and sequence work around production, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Drive consistent, standardized implementation of cybersecurity controls across sites in alignment with GM enterprise standards and priorities.
  • Improve plant-level visibility, monitoring, and resilience through deployment and validation of security tooling and controls.
  • Set execution priorities, manage schedules, and resolve cross-functional issues during deployment in live manufacturing environments.
  • Directly lead, coach, and develop a team of cybersecurity execution engineers, including setting expectations, managing performance, and supporting career growth.
  • Provide clear direction, technical guidance, and accountability for delivery across the team's portfolio of work.
  • Support cybersecurity development teams by providing plant-floor feedback, validating solutions in live environments, and helping shape controls and tooling for real-world deployability and sustainment.
  • Ensure all cybersecurity work advances without negatively impacting safety, quality, or production output.
  • Serve as the primary on-site technical liaison for cybersecurity execution, escalating risks and dependencies as needed.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, OR 15 years of relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated experience executing cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, or network deployment projects, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, or OT environment.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity controls, network architecture and refresh activities, and security monitoring concepts.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience directly managing, coaching, and developing a team, including setting priorities, managing performance, and building talent.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and deliver technical work across multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve cross-functional issues in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to align technical execution to business objectives and communicate clearly with both plant floor and leadership audiences.
  • Willingness to work on-site at manufacturing locations and to schedule work around production windows, including occasional off-shift or weekend activity.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Experience in a manufacturing or plant environment with an understanding of how safety, quality, and production constraints influence technical execution.
  • Familiarity with operational technology (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS) security considerations.
  • Experience deploying or refreshing plant networks and integrating security controls into operational environments.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, IEC 62443) as applied to manufacturing.
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical execution resources.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Security+, GICSP, CISSP, or equivalent).
