Job description

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Golf Course Maintenance will be under the direction of the assistant superintendents, operate light to moderate size equipment on the golf course, and does related work as needed for golf course maintenance department.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Operates various mowers, string trimmers, edged cart paths, bunkers, sprinkler heads, and helps maintain sand bunkers. May be asked to operate other light equipment as authorized by the supervisor.
  • Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis. Reports equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately.
  • Be able to blow fairways, tees, and greens.
  • Daily cleanup of equipment and facility.
  • May be asked to spray weed killer, groom natives, and fill divots.
  • Assists in project work such as drainage, sod laying, preparing base soil, and any other projects that may arise through the season.
  • May occasionally operate rotary mowers and reel mowers as authorized by the supervisor.
  • Maintains effective communication and cooperation with all other departments.
  • Maintains positive interactions with club members and guests, providing a high level of customer service.
  • Performs any and all duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent or other members of the senior management team, as deemed appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong interpersonal skills; team oriented.
  • Previous experience on golf course preferred
  • Ability to comprehend instructions given in English or Spanish
  • General knowledge of golf game and the course preferred.
  • Ability to work 7 days a week, weekends and holidays.
  • Perform job responsibilities and operate equipment according to the company safety and training programs
  • Knowledge of safe and efficient operation of small equipment.
  • Working knowledge of operating hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Possesses mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time, sometimes in inclement weather.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Most tasks are performed outdoors in variable weather conditions, including hot, cold, windy and wet weather. Temperature can be extreme but is usually moderate. Frequently works near moving/mechanical parts. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to reach with arms and hands; bend and stoop; remain at post standing for extended periods of time; required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
