We are seeking highly motivated Independent Freight Broker/Agents (1099) to join our team at Patterson Companies, Inc. As an Independent Freight Broker/Agent, you will have the opportunity to leverage our industry-leading infrastructure, extensive carrier network, and comprehensive back-office support to maximize your earning potential and achieve your business goals. Each broker/agent is responsible for maintaining and growing their individual book of business, from covering loads and making check calls to sourcing leads and closing new business, each agent owns their own process and book of business from beginning to end (cradle-to-grave business model). Responsibilities include:

  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients, coordinating and managing all aspects of freight transportation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and carriers to facilitate the efficient movement of freight.
  • Utilize our state-of-the-art Transportation Management System (TMS), McLeod PowerBroker, to streamline operations and ensure accurate tracking and reporting of shipments.
  • Negotiate competitive rates with carriers and ensure timely and cost-effective freight transportation.
  • Collaborate with our experienced team to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and market conditions to provide knowledgeable and informed service to clients.

Requirements:

  2. Proven experience, with 2 or more years, as an Independent Freight Agent or Broker.

  4. Proficient in utilizing transportation management systems and technology.
  5. Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
