Remote Freight Agent information

What are some common challenges a Remote Freight Agent faces, and how can they be managed?

Remote Freight Agents often encounter challenges such as coordinating shipments across multiple time zones, managing last-minute changes or delays, and ensuring clear communication with carriers and clients. Staying organized and utilizing robust transportation management systems can help streamline workflows and minimize errors. Proactive communication and strong problem-solving skills are key to resolving issues quickly and maintaining service reliability. Many agents find that building solid relationships with carriers and clients also helps anticipate needs and prevent misunderstandings. By leveraging technology and fostering good partnerships, Remote Freight Agents can effectively navigate these challenges and succeed in their roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Freight Agent position, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Freight Agent, you need strong knowledge of logistics, shipping regulations, and freight brokerage, often supported by experience in logistics or certification such as a Freight Broker License. Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), load boards, and digital communication tools is essential. Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and customer service orientation help agents stand out. These abilities are vital for efficiently coordinating shipments, solving issues remotely, and maintaining positive relationships with clients and carriers.

What is a Remote Freight Agent job?

A Remote Freight Agent is an independent contractor who helps facilitate the shipping of freight by matching shippers with carriers. They work remotely to negotiate rates, book shipments, and track deliveries while maintaining client relationships. Freight agents typically partner with a licensed freight brokerage to use their network and resources. This commission-based role requires strong sales, communication, and organizational skills.

How can I make 2000 a week working from home?

A remote freight agent can potentially earn $2,000 a week by building a strong client network, efficiently managing freight loads, and leveraging industry tools like transportation management systems. Success depends on experience, negotiation skills, and the volume of shipments handled, often requiring full-time commitment and industry knowledge.

Can freight brokers work remotely?

Freight brokers, including remote freight agents, can work remotely as the role primarily involves communication, computer-based tasks, and managing logistics through transportation management systems. Many companies support remote work for freight brokers, provided they have strong organizational skills, industry knowledge, and access to necessary tools like load boards and communication platforms.

Is becoming a freight agent worth it?

A freight agent is a logistics professional who coordinates shipments between shippers and carriers, often working remotely and using industry software. The role can offer flexible schedules and earning potential through commissions, but success depends on building client relationships and industry knowledge. It is a viable career path for those interested in transportation and sales, with opportunities for growth and self-employment.

Will AI take over freight brokers?

As a remote freight agent, AI is increasingly used to assist with tasks like load matching and route optimization, but it is unlikely to fully replace freight brokers. Human judgment, negotiation skills, and customer relationships remain essential in freight brokerage, and agents who adapt to new technologies can enhance their efficiency and service. AI tools serve as complements rather than substitutes for experienced freight professionals.

Job description

This is a remote position.

FULL-CYCLE FREIGHT AGENT | Sales + Carrier Ops | Dual-Role | 1099 | Remote

Blue Fox Trading - A HYRE HARPER Co. Affiliate

--- WHO WE ARE ---

Blue Fox Trading is a freight brokerage consultancy built around a 360-degree logistics vision. Our founder holds a degree in Third-Party Logistics and passed the Customs Brokerage Exam (license pending). We are the logistics division of HYRE HARPER Co., a full-service business operations and recruitment firm. Our agents get enterprise-grade TMS, CRM, load boards, and AI tools - all provided at no cost.

--- THE ROLE ---

This is for the freight professional who does it all. If you close shippers AND cover trucks, you earn commission on both - independently. Two separate commissions on the same load.

Not dual-role yet? Start on one side and add the other with company approval.

--- KEY HIGHLIGHTS ---

* Up to 45% of Net Revenue per load at Tier 1; up to 60% at Tier 2

* No earnings cap - your book sets the ceiling

* Customs Brokerage + Freight Brokerage - one ecosystem

* Claude AI, ChatGPT & Microsoft Copilot built into daily ops

* AscendTMS, McLeod, DAT, Truckstop, TAI, HubSpot - all provided

* Weekly pay every Friday

--- WHAT YOU WILL DO ---

SHIPPER / SALES SIDE:

* Prospect and onboard shipper accounts; manage existing relationships

* Quote TL, LTL, Partial, and Spot Market freight via DAT, Truckstop, TAI

* Book and manage shipments in AscendTMS and McLeod; track activity in HubSpot CRM

CARRIER / OPS SIDE:

* Source and book carriers via DAT, Truckstop, and direct outreach

* Negotiate carrier rates; verify FMCSA credentials and insurance

* Track shipments pickup through delivery; manage check calls, PODs, exceptions

TECHNOLOGY (Required):

* Microsoft 365, Slack, Microsoft Copilot

* Claude AI and ChatGPT for market analysis and workflow optimization

--- OUR STORY ---

Our founder built Blue Fox Trading to close a gap: one team that handles customs clearance AND domestic freight execution. No handoffs. No gaps. Clients get the full journey. Agents get enterprise infrastructure with independent contractor freedom.

Requirements

--- REQUIRED - ALL AGENTS ---

* Proven experience as a Freight Broker Agent, Carrier Sales Rep, or Dispatcher

* Familiarity with DAT, Truckstop, or similar load boards

* Microsoft 365 and Slack proficiency

* Hands-on use of Claude AI, ChatGPT, or Microsoft Copilot - required

* Self-directed in a commission-only remote environment

* Strong communication and negotiation skills

* FMCSA compliance and carrier vetting knowledge

* Established book of business with active shippers - non-negotiable

* Knowledge of TL, LTL, Partial, and Spot Market freight

* AscendTMS and/or McLeod Software experience (preferred)

* TAI for OTR LTL quoting (preferred)

* HubSpot CRM or equivalent

--- CARRIER OPS COORDINATOR TRACK ---

* Experience in carrier sales, dispatching, or freight brokerage ops

* Ability to source trucks, vet carriers, manage full shipment lifecycle

--- PREFERRED (EITHER TRACK) ---

* Apollo and/or Clay for prospecting

* Experience managing both sides of a load

* Interest in international freight, customs, or import/export

--- EQUIPMENT & WORKSPACE ---

* Your own business phone line (mobile or VoIP)

* Reliable high-speed internet

* Computer capable of running web-based TMS, CRM, and Microsoft 365

* Dedicated home office for confidential communications

Benefits

--- COMMISSION TIERS ---

* Tier 1: $0-$29,999 cumulative earned -> 22.5% of Net Revenue per role

* Tier 2 (Permanent): $30,000+ cumulative -> 30% of Net Revenue per role

Commission is on Net Revenue Blue Fox Trading receives after broker splits - always. As we build our own MC authority, direct loads carry no split and your commission base grows automatically.

--- DUAL-ROLE EARNING POTENTIAL ---

* Sales Side Only: 22.5%-30% of Net Revenue

* Carrier Ops Only: 22.5%-30% of Net Revenue

* Both Sides (Full Load): Up to 45% (Tier 1) or 60% (Tier 2) - each role commissioned independently

Example: $10,000 GP load, Operating Agreement (60% Blue Fox split). Blue Fox receives $6,000. You handle both sides at Tier 1: 22.5% sales ($1,350) + 22.5% ops ($1,350) = $2,700 on one load.

--- TOOLS PROVIDED AT NO COST ---

* TMS: AscendTMS, McLeod Software

* Load Boards: DAT, Truckstop
