Description

Lorain County Metro Parks is currently seeking a Special Events Assistant. We are looking for a highly organized individual interested in the hospitality field, with excellent communication skills, and strong attention to detail.

  1. Proficient knowledge of all venue and park rules and regulations.  
  2. Serve as the main point of contact for clients and guests. 
  3. Provide exceptional customer service and handle any issues that may arise. 
  4. Prepare facilities before the event including room set up. 
  5. Ensure that events stay on track and end on time. 
  6. Ensure that the venue is clear of all decorations, supplies, and trash following each event, and document any damage to the venue and grounds.    
  7.  Open and close buildings, facilities, and outdoor venues, including setting security alarms. 


Pay Rate: $12 to $15 per hour, commensurate with employee experience. 

Temporary employees can work up to 28 hours per week. 

Requirements

1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with guests and staff.

2. Ability to deal with difficult people and situations in a calm, professional manner, as well as problem-solve and make decisions quickly. 

3. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

4. Ability to work irregular hours, shifts, and weekends as required.

5. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. 

6. Must be able to work safely and effectively in outdoor environments in all weather conditions.

7. Performs related duties assigned or apparent 


Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license or state ID. New employees must satisfactorily complete a background check. Lorain County Metropolitan Park District policy prohibits hiring new employees who are tobacco users.
