Job Description

STARTING RATE: $19/hour

General Summary Of Duties:

Patrol, stand and assist in assigned areas along with observing all activity, responding to calls during concert events, special events and other functions on property.  Perform proactive and enforcement functions in a courteous and restrained manner in coping with emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances and threats to life and/or property to maintain a safe and secure environment. 

Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)

  • Ability at assigned station/area, stand and/or move on a continuous basis during special events and functions (length and nature of the event varies).
  • Responsible for checking bags and screening guests to ensure overall safety using established equipment (magnetometers, wands, etc).
  • Assist with controlling guest ingress and egress during special events and functions.
  • Observe and identify potential security/safety risks, suspicious persons/activity, or undesirable conditions or hazards. 
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations (i.e., CPR, first aid, other medical emergencies, fire).
  • Enforce hotel policies and procedures along with civil law as warranted for the safety/security of guests, employees and property.
  • Ability to escort performers and artists in and out of venues and/or assigned areas.
  • Ability to provide instructions and/or guidance for guest/employee safety.
  • Ability to respond to security assistance calls during events/operating hours.
  • Ability to remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy property activity, serving as a role model for other employees. 
  • Ability to clearly communicate via two-way radios and telephones to the Security Communications Center, as well as supervisors and fellow officers.
  • Ability to provide "guest" satisfaction through assistance, direction and information within property/department guidelines.
  • Attend and participate in shift meetings to receive instructions and information regarding special events and internal property concerns.
  • Any and all related security tasks as directed by Security Management
Qualifications

Performance Requirements: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language clearly to ascertain and document important information, to follow written and/or verbal instructions, to provide clear direction/guidance, and to communicate with others.
  • Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to listen and respond to employee or management inquiries/concerns using a positive, clear speaking voice, answering questions, and/or offering assistance, giving accurate information regarding plans, policies, or procedures within guidelines.
  • Ability to perform duties within hot to normal to cold temperature ranges and unfavorable conditions which can occasionally be noisy.
  • Knowledge of safety/security practices and procedures including:  C.P.R., emergency first aid, semi-automatic defibrillator and basic emergency fire equipment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, having split days off, work weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.
  • Ability to maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.

  • Ability to obtain/renew all government required licenses or certification.  [Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Gaming Work Permit; Alcohol Awareness Certificate; Valid Driver's License; American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety Certificate and American Red Cross Adult, Infant and Child CPR Certificate).
