Job description

At Sunshine Residential Homes, we believe every child deserves to feel celebrated-from birthdays to graduations and every milestone in between. We're seeking a creative, organized, and community-minded Events Coordinator to lead the charge in bringing joy and meaningful engagement to the youth in our care.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives on planning purposeful events, loves creating vibrant materials, and finds fulfillment in making others feel special.
What You'll Do:
Plan and Coordinate Memorable Events
  • Lead quarterly All for Success celebrations that recognize academic achievements
  • Coordinate seasonal events (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) across homes
  • Organize and support birthday celebrations that make every child feel seen
  • Occasionally attend events to take photos, help with logistics, and connect with community partners
  • Be available (as needed) for limited after-hours or weekend event support (phone or on-site)

Weekly Activities & Engagement
  • Distribute weekly activity lists to house managers with fun, age-appropriate ideas and local events
  • Collaborate with staff to spark creativity and consistency in youth engagement

House Aesthetics & Environment
  • Visit homes regularly to support youth-friendly environments through seasonal décor and positive visual themes
  • Assist staff with décor setup and inspiration that aligns with upcoming events

Youth Enrichment Programming
  • Partner with the Youth Development Manager to co-host events for older youth (e.g., financial literacy, life skills workshops)

Community & Partner Collaboration
  • Serve as the liaison to Sunshine Angels, our nonprofit partner
  • Coordinate joint events, donation drives, and activities with their volunteers and supporters
  • Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with all community sponsors

Design & Promotion
  • Create simple, eye-catching flyers and event materials using tools like Canva, PowerPoint, Photoshop, or Illustrator
  • Promote upcoming events in-house and via internal communication channels

Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Arts in communications, event planning, social work, child development, or a related field (required)
  • Basic working knowledge of Canva, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and Illustrator
