Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Urology/Nephrology unit requiring an active IL RN license and 2+ years of med/surg nursing experience.

Details
  • Med/Surg unit specializing in Urology/Nephrology in an acute care hospital
  • 25-bed unit with an average daily census of 23 and a 1:6 patient ratio
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (1845-0715)
  • Works every other weekend
  • May be required to work Charge as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required to other Medical Surgical units within the hospital or nearby affiliate facilities
  • Cerner EMR experience required
Requirements
  • Active IL RN license required (in hand or in application process)
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience required
  • Previous Charge nurse experience required
  • Cerner charting system experience required
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring and rapid response/code team protocols
  • Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
  • Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral and PICC line management, and starting IVs
  • Experience administering Heparin
  • Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, and oral suctioning
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
  • Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred
  • AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
Additional Information
  • Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds
  • Provide direct patient care to urology and nephrology med/surg patients
  • Any solid color scrubs permitted
  • Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
  • First-time travelers are welcome if they have a solid foundation in med/surg nursing
  • Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
  • Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
  • RTO requests ideally limited to 5 days or fewer
  • Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
