Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week day shift travel assignment at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, with a minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg experience required.

Details
  • Acute care hospital setting — Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
  • Medical Surgical unit with an average daily census of 21 patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:5 on days, nights, and weekends
  • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (0645–1915)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required to other Med/Surg and like units within the hospital, as well as to nearby affiliate hospitals
  • No on-call requirements
  • Cerner EMR used; experience preferred
  • Preferred clinical experience includes: telemetry/remote monitoring, rapid response, post-angiogram/post-MI care, IV insulin protocols, colostomy and feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis, renal failure management, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC and peripheral line management, heparin/insulin/PCA medications, CVA and pre/post neuro surgery, ortho trauma, surgical drains, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
Requirements
  • Active IL RN license required — pending licenses are not accepted
  • Active BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; AHA or Red Cross accepted — RQI AHA cards are not accepted
  • Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required
  • Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
  • Any current or former permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler
  • Travel pairs are not accepted — candidates must be submitted individually
  • RTO of up to 5 days is generally accommodated; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • While block scheduling cannot be guaranteed, the unit typically accommodates 3 consecutive shifts and schedule requests can be discussed with the manager
  • Scrubs must be any solid color
  • Free parking is available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation
