Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU Float position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and comfort working across all PCU and MS units.

Details
  • Float position covering all PCU and MS units within a large acute care teaching hospital
  • PCU patient ratio averages 5:1; MS patient ratio averages 6:1, with potential flex up to 7:1
  • Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM โ€“ 7:15 AM
  • Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours, meaning travelers may float 2โ€“3 times per shift
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
  • One holiday must be worked per 13-week contract
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Patient population includes telemetry, stepdown (PCU/DOU/IMC), cardiovascular, and medical-surgical cases
  • Procedures include central line care, trach management, non-invasive airway support (nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP), and chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
  • Cardiac monitoring responsibilities include dysrhythmia interpretation, titrating cardiac drips, and Rapid Response/Code team participation
  • Pre- and post-cardiac cath patient management experience utilized in this role
Requirements
  • Active Virginia state RN license or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
  • Experience in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration required
  • Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation required
  • Experience with PCA and heparin protocols, IV insulin administration, and endocrine/metabolic condition management required
  • Background in telemetry and stepdown-level care (PCU/DOU/IMC) required
  • Cardiovascular experience including pre/post cardiac cath settings required
  • Two professional references required for consideration
  • Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
