Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring AWHONN Intermediate certification and fetal monitoring experience.

Details
  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital setting with an average of 2,000 annual deliveries
  • Unit includes 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms
  • Care for low-risk patients (including certified nurse midwife population) and high-risk maternal fetal medicine cases
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), 48 hours per week
  • 13-week contract assignment
  • Required to cross-train to Mother/Baby and may float to NICU (feeders/growers)
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
  • Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • Two professional references required
  • Nursys license verification required
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Skills include antepartum care, postpartum care, newborn assessment, and management of postpartum hemorrhage
  • Experience with magnesium sulfate therapy and triage of obstetrical patients preferred
  • Circulating and recovering C-section patients, and tubal ligation experience preferred
  • Floating required within scope of practice as needed
  • Maximum 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, all of which must be disclosed prior to offer
  • Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to determine an appropriate start date
  • Specialty-specific orientation modules required, completed during orientation and tracked in Workday
  • Previous UVA Health permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
  • External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at the facility
  • First-time travelers are not being considered for this position
