Job description

JOB LOCATION: Knightdale, NC

AVAILABLE POSITIONS: 1

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Perform general tasks involving physical labor as well as operating the loader and Bobcat at pits and/or plants. May operate hand and power tools of all types: Air hammers, small mechanical hoists, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces for support, cleaning up rubble and debris and keeping plant yard clean at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Loader Operator

  1. Operate loader as needed for moving and loading materials at pits or on plant yard. May also be required to use jackhammers, drills and other power tools.
  2. Position, join, align, and seal structural components.
  3. Shovel materials.
  4. Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
  5. Spray materials such as water, sand, steam, or paint through hoses to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.
  6. Tend all machines used in the day to day operations.
  7. Tend pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment, or to heat and move materials.
  8. Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
  9. Apply caulking compounds by hand or using caulking guns.
  10. Clean and prepare sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  11. Control traffic passing near, in, and around work area.
  12. Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, ramps, and other temporary structures.
  13. Load, unload building materials, machinery, and tools.
  14. Mix ingredients to create compounds for covering or cleaning surfaces.
  15. Learn and follow safety regulations.
  16. Work long, flexible hours as demanded by our customers including nights, weekends, and work outside for extended periods during all seasons of the year.
  17. Perform additional duties as required or directed by their immediate supervisor or other manager.
  18. Must have regular and predictable attendance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old.

Work Experience:

  • Good work ethic.
  • 1 year experience operating loader required.
  • MSHA certified a plus.

Other:

  • Candidate will need to have dependable transportation.
  • Punctual, dependable and self motivated.
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends.
  • Valid NC driver license.

Heavy Physical Demands:

Heavy physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight material with frequent lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 80 pounds). If a position specific Physical Demands sheet is attached, it will describe in more detail the physical demands that are required.

Physical Activity:

Position requires the ability to continuously work around any or all of the following: noise, dust, heat, cold, oil and heavy equipment. Personal protective equipment is normally required of the position. Position requires ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly and the ability to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions.
