Job title: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

Location: WakeMed Surgery Center - Cary 210 Ashville Ave, Cary, NC 27518

Status: Full-time, Exempt 

Reports to: Chief CRNA

Overview:

ECAA has expanded again, this time in the beautiful area of Cary just outside of Raleigh!
Join ECAA in providing high quality care in a new state-of-the-art surgery center facility. The spacious area includes an abundance of natural light and spacious clinical areas for comfort and recovery. It offers a comfortable waiting area, a covered patient drop-off and pick-up, free parking, an on-site cafe and pharmacy for convenience, and a spacious recovery area with natural light to offer a healing and tranquil environment. It doesn't get any more pristine than this!
This surgery center is located on the 5th floor of the Medical Park of Cary and is a separate entity from WakeMed Cary Hospital. This site is a joint venture between WakeMed and community-based physicians. This surgery center contains 1 operating room and 3 procedure rooms. It adheres to the strictest of safety standards - rigid quality control and healthcare compliance. This facility also supports the use of the newest and most modern surgical and anesthesia equipment.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 0700 - 1700 (flexible scheduling)
Casework: General, urology, gyn, podiatry, orthopedic
Model: ACT w/ supervision
Pay/PTO: Based on experience, inquire within

Job Summary:

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist manages all anesthetics with encouraged and supported autonomy, while practicing in an ACT setting. The incumbent CRNA will use high patient acuity to fully implement their clinical skills and education, and continue to expand within any area of expertise that may be desired. The CRNA filling this role may be required to work at one or more of the following locations:

Rex Surgery Center of Cary in the Cary/Raleigh area. Here, cases are general outpatient procedures with a focus on orthopedic, ent, urology, and peds.

WakeMed Surgery Center - Cary

Ortho NC ASC, the furthest North of all ASCs, where CRNAs focus mainly on orthopedic procedures.

WakeMed North Raleigh Surgery Center, attached directly to the WakeMed North Hospital campus. This location is a brand new surgery center that focuses on a wide variety of cases including but not limited to general surgery, ortho, ENT, gyn, urology, and healthy peds.

Duties/Responsibilities:

●        Examine patients’ history for allergies or illnesses that would affect anesthesia.

●        Evaluate and prepare patients, provide education about surgeries/procedures and recovery, and discuss possible side effects.

●        Liaise with other members of the healthcare team such as MDs, nurses, and other healthcare workers.

●        Determine appropriate amount, type, and method of anesthesia administration.

●        Perform anesthetics; administer medication to patients for pain relief.

●        Supervise and assist other CRNAs.

●        Oversee recovery and pain management of patients.

●        Inform patients of post-surgical and pain management procedures.

●        Assist in patient procedure preparation.

●        Provide support to other healthcare teams.

●        Advise patients on medication type and dosage.

●        Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

●        Must be a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist with a minimum of 3 years of experience.

●        Current or compact RN license in the state of North Carolina, or able to obtain NC licensure.

●        BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

●        Ability to provide safe pre-and post-anesthetic care using innovative and proven techniques.

●        Ability to assess patients’ medical history and plan anesthesia administration for the best outcome.

●        High patient acuity with the ability to provide compassionate care to every patient.

●        Ability to work in a team, but also autonomously when needed.

●        Strong written and oral skills with the ability to communicate clearly under pressure.

●        Proficient with technology including medical equipment and computers.

●        Maintain a friendly, collaborative attitude and professional demeanor at all times.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

●        Must have the ability to stand for longer periods of time and be accustomed to frequent and prolonged movement.

●        Involves frequent contact with patients, physicians, leadership, facility, and medical office staff.

●        Ability to perform work in a hospital where the environment may be stressful and often disruptive.
