About Georgettes:
Georgette's Grounds is a coffee shop in downtown Maumee serving specialty coffee drinks, lattes, smoothies and a full serve lunch and dessert menu. Georgette's provides community supported employment as part of Sunshine Communities, Inc. which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Northwest Ohio supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through residential, vocational, clinical, therapeutic, and recreational services. These services are offered in various circumstances including at our Maumee, Ohio campus and at homes within the community.
Summary:
Responsible for providing exceptional customer service while preparing and serving specialty coffee beverages, fresh food, soups, salads, baked goods and other café offerings. The Barista helps create a welcoming, clean, safe and inclusive environment where employees work alongside individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as valued members of the Georgette's Coffee Shop team. The position models outstanding customer service, teamwork and inclusive workplace practices while supporting daily café operations.
Job Details: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Provide friendly customer service and create a welcoming café environment.
  • Take customer orders and answer menu questions.
  • Prepare coffee, espresso drinks, tea, smoothies, and fresh food items according to recipes.
  • Operate the POS system and process customer payments accurately.
  • Package dine-in and carry-out orders.
  • Restock food, beverages, merchandise, and supplies; rotate inventory as needed.
  • Maintain clean food preparation areas, dining spaces, equipment, and restrooms.
  • Complete opening, closing, and daily cleaning duties.
  • Work as part of a team to provide efficient service during busy periods.
  • Promote an inclusive, person-centered environment that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Follow all Sunshine Communities, health department, and food safety policies and report safety concerns promptly.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License, good driving record and auto insurance
  • Able to pass criminal background, drug test and physical
  • Coffee shop, café, or restaurant experience required- minimum of one year
  • Experience working in an inclusive environment or alongside individuals with disabilities is welcomed.
  • Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently reach, bend, stoop, kneel and perform repetitive hand movements.
  • Safely lift, carry and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work around hot beverages, kitchen equipment and cleaning products.
