Director, Clinical Services - Hospital Programs

The Director, Clinical Services (DCS) - Hospital Programs is the senior clinical leader accountable for quality, safety, and regulatory readiness across DaVita's hospital and acute care partnerships. This role drives clinical excellence across inpatient dialysis, hospital-based programs, and physician-aligned care models by leading safety response, developing clinical leaders, and executing division-wide clinical strategy.

This leader partners closely with hospital executives, physician groups, operations, and DaVita divisional leadership to ensure consistent, compliant, and high-performing hospital programs while advancing patient outcomes and clinical reliability at scale. Registered Nurse (RN) license required.

Location: Can be located anywhere in North Carolina, Virginia, DC, Maryland, or Delaware

Core Accountabilities

Hospital Safety, Regulatory & Survey Readiness

  • Owns hospital-based safety readiness, including CMS, CLUE, Joint Commission, and hospital credentialing requirements.

  • Leads real-time response for serious safety events, Immediate Jeopardy surveys, and high-risk regulatory issues across hospital programs.

  • Drives consistent execution of safety dashboards, incident response, and corrective action plans across all hospital sites.

Clinical Leadership & Talent Development

  • Leads and coaches the Hospital Clinical Services leadership team (hospital-based clinical leaders, nurse managers, and regional clinical partners).

  • Drives performance management, leadership capability, and succession planning for hospital clinical leaders.

  • Intervenes directly in underperforming teams, high-risk relationships, or complex physician / hospital dynamics.

Hospital Performance & Outlier Management

  • Identifies underperforming hospital programs (quality, safety, throughput, or experience) and deploys focused clinical recovery plans.

  • Prioritizes resources and leadership attention based on risk, regulatory exposure, and patient impact.

  • Partners with hospital operations and physician leadership to stabilize and elevate high-acuity programs.

Division-Level Clinical Strategy

  • Owns the hospital clinical strategy for the division in partnership with the DVP and hospital operations leaders.

  • Leads execution of hospital-focused clinical initiatives, quality improvement plans, and standardization across all hospital partnerships.

  • Ensures initiatives translate into measurable improvement in patient outcomes, safety, and compliance.

Operating Model

  • Acts as the clinical authority for hospital partnerships, balancing regulatory rigor with operational reality.

  • Works in tight partnership with hospital executives, DaVita operations leaders, and physician groups.

  • Provides visible, on-site leadership in high-risk or high-growth hospital programs.

Travel & Work Environment

  • Regional travel up to 50%

  • Evening and weekend availability as required for hospital or regulatory events

  • On-site presence in hospitals 2-3 days per week

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field (Master's preferred)

  • 8-10+ years of clinical experience, with 4+ years in senior clinical leadership

  • Deep experience with hospital-based care, acute services, or complex healthcare systems

  • Strong command of regulatory, quality, and safety frameworks (CMS, Joint Commission, hospital accreditation)

  • Proven ability to lead through complex stakeholder environments (hospitals, physicians, executives)

  • Strong analytical, communication, and executive-level presentation skills

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook

The Salary Range for the role is $128,000.00-$175,000.00 per year.
