Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Process Engineer Lead to provide leadership to the Process Engineering group and provide technical leadership in the design, installation, commissioning, and startup of equipment across our optical fiber and cable manufacturing operations. This role ensures new and existing processes meet design capability and supports the resolution of process deviations to maintain high operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

   Lead a team of Process Engineers and Technicians to complete design, install, debug, validate, and optimize development equipment.
   Assign resources to projects to ensure successful project deployment and growth of the individual.
   Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, IT, Supply Chain, Safety, and Environmental teams. Plan and conduct experiments; analyze data to drive improvements in process capability.
   Require clear equipment handover criteria for receiving operations. Ensure start-up and debug checklists are utilized to support smooth commissioning activities.
   Maintain accurate process documentation and deliver training for operations personnel.

Required Education & Skills:

   Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Ceramic Engineering, or equivalent.
   Minimum 5+ years of manufacturing, leadership, or related experience.
   Strong data acquisition, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
   Effective communication and decisionmaking abilities across all organizational levels.
   Solid understanding of core process variables (e.g., pressure, flow, temperature, rate).

Desired Skills:

   Experience in optical fiber manufacturing.
   Proficiency with Power BI, Microsoft Office, Teams, and MS Project.
   Background in manufacturing or construction environments with a strong safety focus.
   Proven ability to proactively identify problems and manage projects effectively.

Travel Requirements:

   Typical travel can range from a few days to a few weeks during the project initiation phase. During the deployment phase of the project, travel may be full-time (up to 50%).
   Travel will be required to Corning Optical Fiber and Cable Manufacturing sites in North Carolina and potentially international.

Hours of Work/Work Schedule:

   40 hours+ M-F, adjusted hours and weekends may be required based on where the project is in the project life cycle.

The range for this position is $117,590.00 - $161,687.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
