Job description

Position Summary

The Ready-Mix Dispatcher/Batchman is responsible for coordinating the scheduling and dispatching of ready-mix concrete deliveries while ensuring accurate batching of concrete products in compliance with company, customer, and regulatory specifications. This position serves as a critical link between customers, drivers, and production operations to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery of ready-mix concrete throughout Southern California.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Dispatch Responsibilities
  • Schedule and dispatch ready-mix concrete deliveries to customer job sites.
  • Coordinate daily activities of mixer truck drivers to maximize efficiency and customer service.
  • Monitor truck locations, job progress, and delivery schedules using dispatch software and GPS systems.
  • Communicate with customers, contractors, sales representatives, and drivers regarding order changes, delays, and delivery status.
  • Prioritize deliveries to meet customer requirements while optimizing fleet utilization.
  • Address service issues and provide timely solutions to operational challenges.
  • Maintain accurate delivery and dispatch records.
Batch Plant Responsibilities
  • Operate computerized batching equipment to produce ready-mix concrete according to approved mix designs.
  • Verify materials, quantities, and mix specifications to ensure product quality.
  • Monitor aggregate, cement, admixture, and water inventories.
  • Conduct pre-production and operational checks on batching equipment.
  • Maintain production records, batch tickets, and quality control documentation.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control personnel regarding mix compliance and testing requirements.
  • Troubleshoot batching and production-related issues.
Qualifications Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or technical training in logistics, construction materials, or a related field preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in ready-mix concrete dispatching, batching, construction materials, transportation logistics, or related operations preferred.
  • Experience with computerized batching and dispatch systems preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of ready-mix concrete products, mix designs, and delivery operations.
  • Understanding of DOT and Cal/OSHA regulations.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in dispatching software, Microsoft Office, and plant automation systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction schedules and job specifications.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs throughout the workday.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in an office and industrial plant environment.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as business demands require.
