What kinds of projects or responsibilities can a Weekend Architect expect to handle during weekend hours?

Weekend Architects often focus on project tasks such as drafting plans, creating design presentations, meeting with clients who are only available outside standard business hours, and collaborating remotely with project teams. These responsibilities may include revising construction documents, addressing last-minute design changes, or preparing deliverables for upcoming deadlines. Working weekends can provide unique flexibility and the chance to support boutique firms, consulting roles, or clients with urgent needs. This structure is well-suited for experienced professionals seeking part-time engagement, freelancers, or those balancing other weekday commitments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Weekend Architect position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Architect, you need strong architectural design skills, proficiency in building codes, and typically a bachelor's or master's degree in architecture along with licensure. Familiarity with CAD/BIM software (such as AutoCAD or Revit), and project management tools are commonly required. Excellent time management, communication, and client-relations skills set top candidates apart, especially when juggling condensed project timelines. These skills ensure you can efficiently deliver high-quality architectural solutions and collaborate effectively, even when focusing your efforts on weekends.

Are architects currently in demand?

Architects are generally in steady demand, especially in regions with ongoing construction, urban development, and infrastructure projects. The profession requires strong design skills, knowledge of building codes, and proficiency with CAD software, and employment opportunities can vary based on economic conditions and regional development activity.

Do architects work on the weekend?

Architects often work on weekends to meet project deadlines, especially during critical phases of design or construction. However, their schedules can vary depending on the firm, project demands, and personal work-life balance preferences.

What is a Weekend Architect job?

A Weekend Architect is a professional who works primarily on weekends to design, plan, and oversee architectural projects. This role is ideal for those who have weekday commitments but want to contribute their expertise on a part-time basis. Weekend Architects may be involved in drafting blueprints, consulting with clients, or coordinating with project teams. Their focus is often on smaller projects, renovations, or design consulting. This job allows flexibility while still leveraging architectural skills.

Does it take 7 years to be an architect?

Becoming a licensed architect typically requires about 5 to 7 years of education and experience, including completing a professional degree in architecture, gaining relevant work experience through internships, and passing the Architect Registration Examination. The exact timeline can vary depending on the individual's educational path and state licensing requirements.

What is the hourly wage for an architect?

The hourly wage for an architect typically ranges from $30 to $70, depending on experience, location, and specialization. Entry-level architects usually earn lower rates, while experienced professionals or those with specialized skills can command higher wages. Many architects work full-time, with some freelance or consulting roles paying hourly rates based on project scope.

Job description

17th June, 2026
Our client in Indianapolis, Indiana, is looking for a remote RCB Architect to join their team!
This is a hybrid/part-time/5-6 month contract position
Hourly range based on experience: Up to $85/HR
We are looking for a Solution Architect, Revenue Cloud Billing to lead our most complex financial transformation projects. As an RCB Architect, you are responsible for the end-to-end design of billing engines that bridge the gap between Sales (Agentforce Revenue Management/ARM) and Finance (ERP). You will recommend best-practice solutions for automated invoicing, financial accounting, dunning, rate management, payments, tax calculation, and revenue recognition.
You will facilitate deep-dive discovery sessions to untangle complex billing cycles and translate them into a robust technical architecture. By providing thought leadership on the Salesforce Billing package, you will serve as a trusted advisor, ensuring our clients achieve a "Lead-to-Cash" flow that is scalable, accurate, and audit-ready.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Architect Lead-to-Cash Solutions: Design comprehensive solutions leveraging Revenue Cloud Billing (RCB) features-including Billing Rules, Tax Engines, Payment Gateways, and Revenue Recognition-to meet complex financial requirements.
  • Technical Documentation: Deliver detailed architecture diagrams specifically focused on the Billing Data Model, GL mapping, and integration touchpoints between Salesforce and downstream ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct).
  • Build & Oversight: Lead the solution design and configuration of Billing objects; estimate effort for complex invoice schedulers, credit notes, and usage-based billing logic.
  • Integrations & Ecosystem: Evaluate when to use native Revenue Cloud Billing functionality versus partner applications (e.g., Avalara for tax, Stripe/CyberSource for payments) or custom programmatic solutions.
  • Technical Hands-on Leadership: Perform advanced configuration of Revenue Cloud Billing and Agentforce Revenue Management, including managing the billing lifecycle, payment runs, and data migration of financial records.
  • Presales & Scoping: Act as the Billing SME to assist Account Executives in scoping complex "Quote-to-Cash" engagements, ensuring technical feasibility of financial requirements.
  • Mentorship: Stay at the forefront of Revenue Cloud Billing releases and provide internal guidance to consultants on the nuances of the Billing package.

Experience/Skills Required:
  • Salesforce Billing Expertise or Revenue Cloud Billing Expertise: 4-6 years of Salesforce Platform experience with at least 2+ years specifically focused on Salesforce Billing (formerly SteelBrick Billing) and/or Revenue Cloud Billing implementation.
  • Senior Consultancy: 2+ years of experience in a Senior Consultant or Architect role, leading financial transformation projects.
  • Prior experience with Salesforce payments
  • Core Competencies: Deep understanding of the Salesforce Revenue Cloud data model, specifically how CPQ Quote Lines transition into Billing Order Products and Invoices.
  • Required Certifications: Active Salesforce Administrator, CPQ Specialist, and Salesforce Billing Specialist (Superbadge or Certification) are required.
  • Financial Literacy: Strong understanding of GAAP, ASC 606 revenue recognition standards, and general accounting principles as they relate to SaaS and subscription billing.
  • Modeling: Ability to create complex Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) illustrating the flow from Opportunity to Invoice and Revenue Schedule.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience leading workshops with CFOs, Controllers, and Finance Ops teams to gather requirements
  • Work Authorization: Must have full-time permanent US work authorization.

Additional Preferred Experience/Skills:
  • ERP Knowledge: Experience integrating Salesforce Billing with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Experience with Stripe, Ayden, Avalara, Data Processing Engines, and Revenue Recognition systems like RightRev
  • Advanced Certifications: Salesforce Revenue Cloud Consultant or B2B Solution Architect certifications.
  • Developer Background: Familiarity with Apex/Triggers as they apply to custom billing triggers or complex invoice presentation.
